Repeat check-ins multiply spend
Until now, a check-in at a place earned credit once per goal. That works well for a trail like “visit ten distilleries,” where the fun is in collecting new stops. It works less well for loyalty-style programs, where the whole point is getting people to come back to the places they already love.
Drive daily check-ins – create loyal regulars
Point-based goals now have a setting called Allow daily check-ins. Turn it on and every place in the goal can be checked into once a day, earning its points each time. It works with both location-based and code-based check-ins.
How it works
- Open the goal in Command Console. It needs to use the point-based rule type.
- Go to the goal’s settings.
- Check Allow daily check-ins. It is off by default.
- Save. That’s it. No app update, no republish.
What visitors see
- Not checked in yet today: the place shows how many points it is worth and an active Check In button.
- Already checked in today: the goal list shows when they last checked in, and the Check In button steps aside until tomorrow. If they try again from the place’s page, a friendly message lets them know to come back tomorrow, and no extra points are awarded.
- Checked in on an earlier day: the place is ready to earn again.
Good to know
- Point-based goals only. The setting only appears on point-based goals. If a goal changes to a different rule type, it goes back to one check-in per place.
- Not retroactive. Turning it on does not backfill earlier repeat visits, and turning it off does not remove points already earned.
- Pairs well with rewards. Set prize tiers at point levels that assume a few return visits, and daily check-ins turn into a real loyalty program.
- Great fits: coffee and bakery trails, brewery and spirits passports with strong local followings, and parks or fitness challenges that reward showing up.
